Retreat...or something

Hey all,

Chatting with a few of you the other night, the point came up that we don't have much time to socialize in the group...and it would be cool if we had the chance to do this, to really build a sense of community among us...and have fun while we're at it. We talked about a camping trip or some overnighter (which means we need a fund-raising crew....) or day trips to places in the region or bowling or whatever. And, naturally, trust falls and relay races and.... Of course, any of this would be optional.

Point is: Throw out some ideas. What do you think? Big, small, whatever...thoughts?

I have several ideas that may help people get to know each other:

* You could do a low ropes course. There are a lot of different activities that you could do to help you get to know other DGSociety members both in a small group and a large group.

* You could volunteer together. There are a number of local organizations that are looking for groups to come and help with projects. Whether it is cleaning a park for the Champaign Park District or sorting food at the East Central Food Bank. There are a number of options to get to know each other while giving back to the C/U community.

* Start an Intrumural team together.

* Play capture the flag on the quad. This can be especially fun at night time.

* Tuesday nights at The Beverly Cinema 18 theater is bucket night.

These are the ideas I've come up with for now that might be a fun way for the group to get to know each other.
